My computer has been doing some strange things lately. It seems to have a computer version of alzheimers. From one boot to the next, it cant remember what programs I told it not to auto start or what settings to use for the desk top or other little things. But the most serious problem of late, is that it can't remember where it but the system.ini file. I have tried to do a search a locate, but it isn't there. So I can only boot in safe mode or dos. How do I reload the system.ini back in. Keep in mind that my floppy drive dosent seem to want to be recognized right now either. Is this happening because the mother board is going bad?.

Have you done a virus scan (with up to date definition files)?

If not you may want to, you can try AVG (http://www.grisoft.com) or make an emergency disk on a know clean system.....
