My printer is a HP Deskjet 3820. I've had it for a little over a year now and it's not a bad printer, but it alway wants to nag me about something. Every time I go to print something, a nag screen will pop up and tell me that there is a problem with my color cartridge and that I should remove the cartridge and then re-insert it. If that doesn't help, I should then replace the cartridge with a new one. I just click OK and then go on and print. It just started doing that a couple of weeks ago. I actually did what it suggested a couple of times, but I still get the nag screen--every time. There is nothing wrong with the cartridge. It prints color just fine. There must be a file in there somewhere that does the nagging. Does any one know how to turn the darn thing off?
By the way, when I said I did what it suggested, I don't mean that I bought a new cartridge. I just removed and re-inserted it.

Check the HP site for a software patch.
Also, uninstall and reinstall the printer's software.

If those do not help, then there may be a glitch with either the printer's or the cartridge's electrical contacts. See if cleaning them with high purity(91% or higher) alcohol helps.
If not and the cartridge is nearing the end of its life, then just grin and bear it, and see if a new cartridge fixes things when the time comes.
If not, then the printer may be the cause.
