Hi;
I'd appreciate any advice you can give me with this problem.
I'm not realy sure how to explain it, as it is very confusing to me...but here goes.
I have just recently reformatted my Pent166.
But I cannot install the CD-Rom.
In the device manager under the hard disk controllers it lists:
-Intel 82371fb PCI busmaster IDE controller
-Primary IDE Controller (dual fifo)& YELLOW DOT & !
-Secondary IDE Controller (dual fifo)
Does the: Primary IDE Controller (dual fifo)& YELLOW DOT & !
have to do with my problem? (It is not an NOIDE problem, I checked).
BTW- I'm pretty sure my CD-ROM is an ATAPI device.
Thanks for any help
Lyn

Some motherboards have a CD with special IDE device drivers. Do you have such a CD? Have you installed the drivers?

With Win9x & modern motherboards, you do not need any special CD Drivers, but the IDE device drivers must be installed.

I assume that the CD & disks worked okay before the reformat.

Aside from problems with the CD, does the sytem run okay?
