Hi ya'll,

W98 Machine very slow, found the following in System Info.

How do I update the driver for this? Any advice appreciated http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif

You have 2 options.

Option 1

Boot to safe mode and remove the device. Reboot and Windows should try to reinstall it. If Windows doesn't reinstall the device AND you have PnP ISA cards, use the "add/remove hardware" applet to reinstall it. (A backup of "user.dat" and "system.dat" should also be made before you start this.)


Option 2


Update your BIOS.

If you don't have any ISA cards then this error is not critcal.

Thanks G-H, I've updated the chipset drivers. I'll follow your instruction now - although updating the bios is scary http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/wink.gif

Yeah, you might want to be sure that updating it doesn't cause more problems then it solves. ( a quick check of the Google Groups for your MB and BIOS should let you know if there are any know problems.) But as long as you choose to backup your current BIOS you can always restore that backup if the new BIOS is a "problem child".
