Helo guys, helps are neeeded! I'm using Creative SLIX SFF pc with P4 2.4Ghz processor, 40GB Maxtor, and 512 PC2100 DDR SDRAM(initially 256), ATI 9600 XT(initially Ge4 MX440).

Here is what my situation. I bought the ATI two days ago. Installed it, n formatted my pc at the same time(have some virus problems). I formatted my pc using Norton Ghost image file tat I have burned some time ago. Then I tried the card with dxdiag and the test cant be completed(reboot with Direct3D test). I suspect its the problem with my power supply, because the card requirements is 300W and above and my SFF only provide 200W of power. So I went to look for new PSU with higher voltage and a dealer said I need to order a new PSU for the SFF and he said I dont really need a new PSU as the current one will suffice, just update my SIS chipset(is tis true).

At the same time, I bought a piece of 256 DDRRam too. I put the card in place n when i power my computer on, it hang after the win XP loading bar finish loading(black screen shows, n ntg happen after tat). I tried removing the old ram, n only with the new ram, the BIOS doesnt even POST. and only with the old piece of ram, it hangs after win XP finish loading(b4 the log in screen).Resitted the RAM, graphics card, still the same.

What is my pc problem now??? Ram or graphics card? What should I do? I'm really confuse here!!

Thanks

First off - can you boot up in safe mode?? (F8 during startup).

Otherwise remove the new RAM and graphics card and see if you can boot. If not try system restore or put your Norton Ghost image back in place. Then put things back and install drivers and directX one by one also setting a new restore point before each action and rebooting.

Doing too many things at once doesn't help if there is some sort of glitch because you cant really identify the cause.

If you cant boot normally (using the original hardware and THEN restoring the image file) please post back just how your partitioning is laid out and where your paging file is kept.

Hi,

Good one Paul, he might be able to boot w/o those.
