Sony VIAO PCV-130
Intel Pentium MMX 200mhz
ATX motherboard
Graphics card working
Power supply working
Monitor working

The power led will only blink.
I have to clear the cmos in order to boot , this only at randomwill it boot.
I also have to revive the bio's.
This is the third motherboard from Sony. The same problem presists.
After I get a good boot everything runs fine.
When I shut down the computer I only get a blinking power led. I receive no beeps from the bio's.

This machine is several years old, some would say past its prime...how are you getting these motherboards...buying them from Sony?

Also when the board is replaced, what stays and what else is replaced?

How long has this problem been occuring?

How long after the board is replaced do you have to wait for the problem to start back up?

Except for having to clear the CMOS chip in order to get a good boot I would say it is a power suplly problem...could still be one. Try replacing the CMOS battery...

Forget clearing the cmos. I found out if I unplug the power supply, wait five minutes I do not get the blinking power led, an it will boot. It seems to me it gets stuck in sleep mode. If I could only give it coffee to wake it up.

HMMM....Ok...here is the recipe...One pot (needs to hold at least 1 gallon of water), 1 lb of coffee, put coffee in pot, add 1 gallon of water, boil...throw in one horseshoe, when horseshoe disolves, coffee is done....give it some of this and I gaurantee that it will never get stuck in sleep mode again.... http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Try going into BIOS and disabling the Power Management functions...or try doing so in Windows...or even both places.
