I have been having problems with Windows xp os.
I have to uninstall ZoneAlarm.
I have been to the control panel to uninstall it but it returns with file cannot be found.

This file is also not located in my usual "Programs File" directory.

When I go to uninstall it in the control panel it returns with

"c:\windows\system32\zonelabs\minilog.exe
cannot be started.

Will it be okay if I delete this program from this directory.
At present when I start "Xp" it warns me with compatibility issues with ZoneAlarm.

If you go the route of reinstalling ZA..grab the latest version first..it seems to have fixed the compatability problems with XP...

While I've not had that particular problem, I can attest to having some really WEIRD problems with ZA and WinXP.

Okay. I've got the latest version of ZA Pro. All bought and paid for, downloaded the latest one that says it's compatible with WinXP... I install it, it detects my dial-up network, but I tell it to ignore adding it.

Now, my dialup connection is automatically dropped by my ISP every 2 hours. Whether it's active or not, I get kicked out and have to dial back in. Now sometimes ZA is happy about this, and nothing untoward happens.

But other times when the connection drops, ZA suddenly flashes up that it's detected a new network, and do I want to add it to the trusted list? If I say yes or no, the result is the same, I'm locked out of the net. ZA allows NO communication with the outside world from that point on. I've tried messing with the network settings, security settings, sent a message to ZA tech-support... Nothing. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/rolleyes.gif The only way to solve this is to uninstall ZA and then spend the next while setting up permissions for all my programs again! This was happening on almost a weekly basis.

I've finally given up. Add my problems with ZA to the fact that WinXP wasn't happy with a lot of my games, and I've just gone back to Win98.

Anyone else ever seen something like this before, and if so... Any ideas how I can fix the damn thing?

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Have you disabled the on-board fire will included in XP. This may be causing the problems with ZA

I too gave up on Zone Alarm and XP, it was nothing but frustration. I found Sygate does eveything I need it to with Win XP and quite well at that.
