I not sure if this is a hardware or software problem. I am constantly getting a error in every program I have, this is how it reads: "_____" caused an invalid page fault in module <unknown> at 0000:bff1414. The quote marks a application of anything. I have tested my memory (burn in) with 2 programs, simtester and gold memory programs, no problem with them. I thought it was because my system gets too hot. Use a temperature gauge I tested overall temp in the case and at the cpu, runs about 80 degrees. My have a Shuttle Hot 597,AMD K6 2 450, GeForce 2 MX, a Sound Blaster Live sound card, Intel 10/100 net card, 50x cd a creative 12.10.32x cdr, View Sonic 17 inch monitor, a genric 56k modem, fujitsu 6.4 harddrive, and 256 megs of memory. I have plenty of power running 300 watt power supply. My drivers for everything are all up to date. This is driving me crazy because once this happens my whole system goes haywire and I end up restarting. I thought it was the video card and the agp port exchanged the card for a ATI Rage 128 same thing happened. Exactly where is this address located and then maybe I could tell where this problem comes from. Is this a virtual memory problem? Help please!! I am about ready to chuck everything and buy a new system. Oh yes running Win98 SE.

?? what caused an invalid page fault??
Check out your memeory (which you've done),
Invalid page faults are caused by a graphic driver software error. They denote incompatibility between the manufacturer's software driver and the Microsoft operating system.
The first thing to do is to try out a range of display resolutions. Change your display settings to 640x480, then 800x600 pixels, trying out all the available colour depths that the card supports - from 256 to 24 bit - for each resolution. Every time a new setting is chosen, a different software file is used; only one of the software files may be incompatible.
If the original setting in Win 3.1 is 640x480 or 800x600, at 256 colours, with a manufacturer's driver software, replace that driver with the generic 800x600 or 640x480 256 colour Super VGA driver instead. The Super VGA drivers are usually included on the Win 3.1x installation disks and will show up as an option in the display settings driver list. If you don't have the Super VGA option in the list we can send you the relevant software.
In Windows try changing the range of resolutions again, this time with the Display Properties control panel. Also check the identity of your graphics card with the change display type or advanced setting button in the Display control panel. We can tell you if there are any known
incompatibilities with this driver.

DirectX 8.1 tells me there is a incapability issue. That Mircrosoft has not tested the driver I am using for my Geforce. However I am using the one for the VIA chipset. The next upgrade is the Detonator and I am not certain I should choose this. My understanding is that if you are NOT using Win XP then the Detonator is not for you (you will experience tons of errors). Could this invalid page fault be a Virtual Memory problem? Windows is managing this so how do you change the value?
