HELLO ALL,
need a little advice...I come out to the garage one morning, turn on main power. laptop power supply is flashing irratticly; turn off power and unplug it but am afraid damage is done.
apparently i have a leak in the roof, and water 'runs' out as i pick up laptop.
dried it out and all,but still the same flashing power supply, and nothing else. is there any hope for this thing? i've been told the ps is the weak link here and might have saved internal parts of laptop...Does that sound right? thanks in advance.
Bill

Treu, you made me scared too. can you be a little more specific about your problem ?

doesn't sound good. I would first recommend not plugging it in until all of the components have dried out--water conducts electricity (very well)--or you may end up doing further damage to your machine or worse, to yourself (electricution).

How old is the laptop? Is it still under warranty?

or you may end up doing further damage to your machine or worse, to yourself (electricution).
Electrocution is not likely since the adapter provides DC voltage, but internally shorting sensitive components and corrosion of connectors is a very likely possibility.

If it's relatively new and/or under warranty, and you bought it with a credit card--check with your credit card company and see if they have a replacement warranty for purchases. I thnk Discovery and maybe Visa do for 30 days or 90 days or something like that---it's worth a try.

Check also with the manufacturer--I'd get soemone on the phone specifically to ask them why the case leaked when it was closed. . .what's the sense in making a lap top if the case leaks. . .like that. Good luck.

Hello Bill,
You sound as if your laptop has been taken out from a swimming pool, if that was the case, I think it won't work again.

Yes you are correct, that should have saved laptop's internals and truly it is a weak link...

If you you own your home, it would probably be covered on your insurance. Since the roof leaked on the laptop, I would think it would be covered. Minus the deductible of course. If it is covered, might as well get your roof fixed at the same time. :)

Just a thought, in case all else fails.

Same problem
I used to have the same problem but my notebook got soaked because I carelessly dropped it on snow, I was also very sad
I contacted my vendor and technicians for help and they finally fixed it or me. If I were you, I would try to fix the roof first and then do everything on my own or find ways which I am not wired at all...
Also a thought on the problem..

Again, please ask your vendor for more information, that's the correct source you could get rather than to ask people who don't like to use laptop, they only give you a bunch of mixing ideas. DO IT ON YOUR OWN!
