I've just installed the Lite-On dvd burner into my coomputer and lo and behold it does not recognize a regular cd. Tried several types. will burn dvd. ok what can I do to make it work. help. :confused:

What burning software are you using?

My Lite-on DVDRW 832 came with Nero as part of the retail box set. Assuming your package is the same, in the suite provided you can run Nero StartSmart or NeroExpress6. In StartSmart, there is an obvious tab to select at the top of the box: CD or DVD.

In Express6, where it says "Which recorder would you like to use?" it may look like it's OK because it indicates the correct drive letter. However, ifyou go to the dropdown list yuo'll see two separate entries for the drive - one is DVD and the other is CD. The appropriate one needs to be selected for your disk. This one is not so obvious - it took me a wee while to spot!
