Hello all!
I'm trying to do a clean install of Win 98. Scandisk reports it can't read the last cluster on drive C:, that it's either damaged, or system isn't configured properly--may need "Logical Block Addressing" enabled. I'm supposed to check the BIOS setup utility. Can anyone explain this to me at all!
Machine is Dell XPS M200s, 166Mhz, 64 MB ram. Doing a clean install because the computer has been acting up--freezing, crashing, slow--for a long time. Plan to upgrade RAM--if I can get through this install ever!
I'm grateful for any help! Thank you!

Not to sure but others will correct me if wrong.

Try FDISKING your hard drive. Delete the primary partition and then re-create it. Then do a format from DOS. This might get rid of the bad clusters.

Murphie,

See your other post!

If you have the make and model of your hard drive you can download the manufacturers diagnostic utility.

Post back with the information and I can help you find it.

Dear CJ,
Thanks a million for all your help and time spent to help a frustrated newbie! God reward you! My boss got impatient with how long this is taking, and I got discouraged, so we handed off that computer into the hands of a much more knowledgable friend. Now I can try to do some real work.
Thanks to everyone else, too. This is a great site, I will be back--there are 3 more machines here...
