I can now reach windows setup, but after the "routine check" this message appears,"Please wait while setup initializes. Scanning system registry...Copying files needed for Windows setup..." i get no further than this and am forced to turn off the power to my system.Please help.

Hmmm...my immediate thought is perhaps a corrupt registry.

If you have a boot disk, shut down and insert. Reboot and select #2 if that's the one with CD ROM support. At the A: prompt type in: scanreg_/restore (replace the underscore _ with a space). Select one of the dates shown for a good registry and Enter...follow the directions.

Oh, be sure when you attempt to reboot that you remove the boot disk first!
