Can anyone tell me how to disable the nipple in the middle of my Dell Latitude D600 keyboard? i keep brushing over it when i type and sending emails i haven't finished writing or adding words from inappropriate msn conversation into my work documents. arghhhh

How can i stop it working without disabling the touchpad too??

Can anyone tell me how to disable the nippleI assume that you are referring to the "pointing stick."

Here's how to do it:

In the Start Menu, go to Control Panel > Mouse. The Mouse Properties window will appear. Under the Device Select tab, you will see four sections labeled Pointing Stick, Pointing Buttons, Touch Pad, and Touch Pad Buttons, each one having the options Enable device and Disable device. You can turn off any one of these devices simply by selecting Disable device under the device you wish to disable. Please note, you cannot disable both pads or both sets of buttons at the same time.

Aha, pointing stick, thats the one. There is no device select tab - only a 'buttons', 'pointers', 'pointer options' and 'hardware' tabs - i can't find a disticntion between touch pad and pointing stick anywhere...

The information I provided came from a copy/paste dealing directly with the D600 keyboard...I don't personally own one to be able to be more precise...

It appears that you cannot disable both devices by default. It would seem one of those options might be the one in question...I'd say, do a bit of experimenting...

Would you let us know for future reference what you discovered if you solve the problem?

Finally fixed it. It appeared i did not have advanced settings on my driver, so went to www.dell.com and downloaded a new driver, was then able to switch off the setting that accepted taps on the mouse as clicks (if that makes sense!)
