Is there a difference between AMD "XP-M mobile processors" and "mobile XP processors"? I've got a mobile 2600 that I'm thinking of trying out on a different mobo. I read some posts about the board, and one fellow said he can run his "mobile 2500", while another said that, per the manufacturer, you cannont run a "XP-M mobile". So is these genuinely different processors, or different ways of describing the same chip? Thanks.

Hi Marty. AMD XP-M are the "cream of the crop" so to speak. They're no different than the desktop version. Just that they need very little voltage to run at their rated speed hence it's good for laptop battery life. Some smart Oc'er figure out that you can use a mobile XP chip on certain desktop mobos. The one that I see work most are mobos that allow you to change multipliers.
I myself have a 2500 mobile that runs at 2.3ghz using only 1.6V. :D Take a look at this article for more infos. link (http://www.hexus.net/content/reviews/review.php?dXJsX3Jldmlld19JRD03MjImdXJsX3BhZ2U9MQ= =)
