Using XP on a Sony 17" monitor Nvidia graphics card - used to run fine but over last few weeks the monitor flashes on and off very quickly resulting in a few pixels jumbled up - culminating in when clicking mouse the monitor then flashes on and off again - this gets prgressively worse until the monitor goes completely blank but power still on - no error messages - please help!

See if the problem happens with the monitor connected to a different system.
If so, then the monitor may be heading south.

If the monitor works ok on another system, then make sure the video card is fully inserted.
If ok, then uninstall and reinstall the card's drivers.
If no luck, then install the latest drivers.
If still no good, then try a different card.
If that fixes things, then replace the video card.

If another video card has the same problem, then update your AV program, and check for viruses.
Also, run Ad-aware, Spybot, and CWShredder to remove any spyware.
