My computer's "My Computer" fails every second or third time I attempt to access files through the explorer function. The floppy, both hard drive partitions and the cdrw show up, but none of the networked rescources appear. I check the connection, cabling and even ping and there is not a network failure (at least after this has happened). Task manager indicates My Computer (not responding). When I end task I am unable to get My Computer to work on the next try so I must reboot to get it to work. During shutdown the system stalls with two tasks still running MDM and Rundll32. I end task each through the task manager and have to shutdown through the task manager also. This really breaks up my work. . .Any help?

What OS are you using? Can you reboot in Safe mode? Do you have access to System Tools to check for IRQ/resource conflicts?

Rundll32 can be just about anything (from the dial up trying to run to anything else), what is MDM? Try disabling it before shutting down and see if it hangs...also try turning off, one by one, all others apps before shutting down.
It sounds like maybe a dll or file is either the wrong version or corrupted.
Are there any error messages when this happens or does it just lockup?
Have you installed anything lately, new software, Windows updates, anything?

MJC - No error messages of any kind . . . just hangs.
I have not installed anything recently.
I will try the disabling method you described.
