Hi.
My computer freezes up or re-boots itself when switching on.... it will either do this when the clock speed screen starts or when Windows starts or usually after it has all loaded give it a couple of minutes, go to open a program (it does'nt matter what program) and it will either freeze up or re-boot and you have to press reset up to a maximum of 3 or 4 times before it will work properly but once it has settled down will work for the rest of the day with no problems....... I have a thread in Applications and Security titled "My Documents on Start Up Screen" I have had problems with a virus of some sort (Been dealing with Budfred on that one) he suggested that I start another thread here for guidance.

Thanx.

Others may have a different opinion

Spontaneous reboots are usually caused by heat or power supply problems. If you're dealing with a virus that could be related too.

First thing to do is open the case and clean all the dust out, I use canned compressed air available at retail outlets, then leave the side cover off and run it with a small fan blowing inside. If the reboots stop then you need better cooling.
