Ok, My coputer was broken into and wires were cut, ribbons where pulled. (All of them) I think I have all the parts to fix it.

The machine is a Compaq 4409CL desktop - Celeron 1.4mhz - 256 - dvd- cd-rw - fs usb - agp 11mb vid card -

This is what I've done so far

power switch/led wires spliced switch wires but not usbs.

DVD and cd-rw drive ribbons replaced, pwr hooked up

HDD ribbon replaced, pwr hooked up

New atx type 200w pwr supply

fdd - ribbon cable replaced and pwr hooked up

The problem is: Everything fires up and runs, fans, HDD, and everything. but I get no signal to the monitor. It just doesnt' come up.
I have pictures.
Anyone have any suggestions? thanks, Jason

reseat the video card...
The monitor works, so it is obviously a video-card problem. Look at the video card closely-any signs of damage?

Also, do a barebones setup with just the power supply, MB, CPU, RAM, video card, monitor, and KB installed.
If there's a display, then reinstall each card and drive one at a time until the problem resurfaces.
The last item installed is the cause.

If there's no display with a barebones, then in addition to 123456's suggestion to reseat the video card, also make sure the RAM is fully seated.

If those are ok, then I would strongly suspect the MB to be damaged if things were treated as roughly as you described.

I don't take 'I have pictures' to mean that there's video at all. It means for the insurance adjuster or to share with us of the damage.

If none of the above works,

I would test the monitor on another pc first, then try a cheap pci video card to eliminate the agp card and slot.

Then I'd try each component, one at a time in another pc if that's possible.

BTW, IMO, a 200watt supply with as many peripherals as you have is nothing to write home about. A bigger one may be needed if you plan to keep this thing going for awhile but fix the immediate problem first.

Do you hear the single short beep that indicates successful completion of the POST?
Only then is the video card enabled.
Hence, if no beep [assuming the internal speaker is working], it follows there will be no display.
