Anybody know how to safely remove the connectors from a sata drive and/or the mobo connector? I've got a 74gig raptor that I want to pull, switch with another sata drive, and these cables just do not want to come off easily. Plus, these are not the most durable connectors, either on the mobo or on the hdd. Any help would be appreciated. I've gotten it off before through sheer force as I recall, but I really dont want to push it and screw up the mobo or the raptor. Thanks.

There was a problem with SATA connectors easily coming loose and the latest versions (of which I have never set my eyes on) are now apparently made to be "locked" in some sort of way. There must be an easy way of releasing/unolocking the connectors, but I'm darned if I know the answer right now.
That is unless there are clips to release as per SATA II see http://www.techcable.com/html/sata.html so are you sure there are no clips or buttons on the side to press??

I don't know much but so far I have been pulling it. No problems. I haven't seen or come accross SATA connectors with locking system so far.
A careful look at the connector would reveal if theres any lock system or not and how the lock system works if theres any.
Just my two cents.

I don't see any lock or tab or anything. I guess I'll just pull, but jeez, these things are on like epoxy. I'm just afraid I'm going to break something. It does not detach easily.

Got home, got the right off, except for the one drive I had been struggling with. Just pull . . . . . the . . . . cable . . . . . straight . . . . off. . . . .!!! :o :o :o
Thanks for the feedback.
