"I've just noticed my topic title has been replaced with loads of weird letters and numbers???"

Got an old "compaq proffesional workstation 5000"

It boots every so often into a clean install of win98.
It errors at post with checksum invalid, so I replaced battery, and now it only counts the ram, then when it says "Intialised proccesor", there is usally two beeps then win98 loads.
At the moment it freezes, on "intialised proccesor", and thats it.
whe I have previously booted into windows, I sorted out a few IRQ probs, and memory address problems. There is still a conflict with the PCI bridge, and there is no free resources anywhere...i dont think thats the problem as it has worked alright with that conflict.

I, going to strip and rebuild to check all is seated properly.
also freezes on shutdown (think needs microsoft patch to correct this??)
It's an old system and it just gives me a challange, it was given to me, to mess around with..any ideas:

Spec:
Pentium 233mhz
64mb ram
2.1gb HDD
matrox graphics card (i think)
