I have an HP Pavilon that will not power on after it is shut down and powered off. If you unplug the PC for a few minutes, after plugging it in the PC will power on successfully. I had a no name computer that I was working on that had the same problem. Any ideas as to what causes this?

Hello SSG0487,
Welcome to http://www.pcguide.com/ubb/pcgubb.gif Forums!
Is your Pavilon under warranty?
Seems like it could be a Power Supply Problem. It might be that when you unplug the unit you are resetting a safety switch. I'm sure we have someone who is familiar with HPs.

Thanks for your reply,
The Pavilion is not under warranty, and I have to add that it also works to flip off the UPS... which makes me think, I should test it on a different UPS. There is a possibility that the UPS is the problem.
