I have a P6SE-ml mobo from Elite Group which just won't do a thing. No power on led, nada. No post no beeps. It is a slot 1, P2 micro atx form. It came jumpered to clear cmos. I set it back to normal operation. It just won't do a thing. The power supply tests good and has been replaced with a known good one. The processor has been replace with a known good one. The case and switches have been replaced. Last of all the motherboard itself has been replaced! Yes the mobo itself! Also the new board came jumpered to clear cmos as the manual and the website agree. I set it to normal.
Also known good memory has been replaced in dimm slot 1. All jumpers are the way the manual calls for. The power to the ps is good. I am at a lose! I am A+ certified and no newbie but this one beats all. Any ideas?

This may be a l o n g shot; however, it happened to me twice!
I had the connector to the on/off switch from main board on the wrong posts...I read the schematic backwards and had the same results you relay until I realized I could NEVER get power to the mainboard with the dang on/off cable hooked to the wrong posts http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
Good luck

Nope no good. It is on the right posts but on the other hand it doesn't indicate which is + and which is -. Would it hurt the board if I try to reverse them? I bypassed the surge suppressor and went straight to known good power by the way. Still dead. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/mad.gif

Check that there is not a piece of plastic under the battery along with the jumper being in the clear psoition.

It shouldn't matter how the wires are on the post, it is a normally open switch all you are doing when pressing it is temporarily shorting the terminals.

Also try to power up with the board sitting on newspaper or cardboard.

Still no go. No plastic under battery. Why take out the mobo?

To make sure that nothing is touching it and causing it to short out.....

Hello broncoapache,

I'm running the P6SE-ML board now. I downloaded the manual from ECS, and the cmos jumper illustration is incorrect. I currently have the center and right pins on jumper J12 connected. According to the manual this is the clear CMOS setting. However this is the only position my board will boot in.

Also once in the case it stopped working again. This time it was due the board making contact and grounding to the case. They make cardboard washers to use for this kind of problem, but being in a hurry to test my theory, I cut the front of the Cheerios' box, trimmed it to the boards size, and made me a "shim" to place between the board and case problem solved.

I learned to take the advice of the fine people here, and always try my parts out before they go in the case. You can set the board on a large piece of cardboard, hook up the necessary parts, cpu, memory, and power supply, powerswitch and see if it will power up that way.

PS: Did you get the modem module and network bracket with your board, been looking for these missing items for mine. Who did you get the board from? Maybe they have the stuff I need! Hope this info helps!

Good Luck!

OK......yeah I'd be a little steamed too.

I have always thought those manuals were being translated from the original Chinese to English by a blind Chinese person reading a Braille verson to 1,000,000 monkeys with the Spanish version of Word running on 1,000,000 Russian language computers, finally being dumped into English by a little old lady in Pasadena receiving it over a cell phone, while driving to church on Sunday........

I think they are translated by a guy from Peru who just learned Chinese last week... http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/eek.gif

Whyzman,

Yes it does feel good! Lurked the forums for well over a year, it feels great to be able to give something back.

Would still be lost in "dead computer" land myself if I had never found the PC Guide! http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Is your BIOS set to autodetect the drives?

broncoapache

Yes it is and I am starting to hate this mobo. It won't see in post either the primary master hd or the secondary cdroms. Will recheck my jumpers and cables and post results. Watch the tread and thanks.
