I have a feeling I blew something on my mobo, but sure hope I'm wrong. Here's what I did: It's a PC chips m599lmr mother board, and I have it down to literal bare bones. No disk, no floppy, a 32 meg memory stick, AMD K6-2 350 cpu. I was able to boot it like this to a point where I could get into the bios, and made a couple basic changes to try and set it up for the new cpu. All that worked fine. Then, I tried to reboot - nothing. Decided to set the cmos clear jumper to clear mode. My understanding is that this clear mode should be done with power off. My mistake was that I powered up the mobo with the jumper in the clear more. I shut it down again, and set the jumper back to normal mode, and now it's completely dead no matter what I do. No video, no sound, no beep codes. Nothing. The cpu fan runs, indicating there's power on the mobo. Please anyone, did I break it by powering it up with the jumper in clear mode?

Powering up the system with the jumper in clear mode setting should not have done any damage
In fact the system is behaving as if the jumper is still in clear setting.

Many systems will not boot when the jumper is set to clear cmos
Also did you remove the battery when you used the clear jumper.
If not .. remove the battery and jumper it again to clear the cmos.

Then reinstall and give it another try.
Double check the correct jumper setting for clearing and normal position

Rick, thanks for the suggestions. I moved the jumper over to the clear position and tried to boot. No go. The power supply wouldn't even come on. So I put the jumper back to the "normal" setting. Now, as usual, the power supply DOES power up, and nothing further happens. Yes, I removed the battery last night, and put the jumper in clear mode, and left it that way all night. This morning, I replaced the battery, and moved the jumper to "normal". No go! Back when I first started with this, when it was still working, I installed a new cpu, an AMD k6-2/350. I then went into the bios and set the core voltage, bus frequency, and CPU multiplier, as well as a couple other settings. I'm beginning to suspect I set something wrong in there, as once done, that's when it quit booting. I wonder, would the next step be getting a new BIOS chip? I have already tried putting in a boot floppy with the ROM BIOS code, but since the computer never even gets that far, it was useless. Any more ideas? Thanks for your help!!

I'm just taking a shot in the dark here. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/cool.gif

You might try unplugging the power cord from the pc, reset the CMOS (leave the jumper in there for a minute).
Return the jumper back to normal mode, plug in the power cord and see if that helps.

Do you still have the Old CPU?
If so and it’s a good chip try dropping it back into the system.

Don't kidd yourself here. I have seen this happen a few times and read about it many times and this usually means that it's time to get the bios chip replaced.
