Wireless Keyboard and Ergo Optical Mouse (http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Merchant_Id=&Section_Id=254&pcount=&Product_Id=172869&Section.Section_Path=%2FRoot%2FComputerAccessories %2FKeyboards%2F)

I bought this recently and have been rather impressed. The guy in my local small [pile 'em high & sell 'em cheap] retailer had to persuade me that I ought to give it a go. When connected it just worked! Nothing seems to ever be that easy, so it came as a pleasant surprise.
I've been using it for some time now without problems, but haven't yet learned all the ins and outs, and just a few minutes back got a bit of a fright. I must have done something and suddenly lost control. The window was scrolling whenever I moved the mouse.

Can anyone give me some quick pointers? :)

Anyone know how to get a spell-checker for Firefox?

Found the user manual here. :)

Not familiar with the Belkin so I am not sure about settings. Can't help with the scrolling problem :(
As for tips, when it starts acting real erratic or not working at all, be sure to check line-of-site with the reciever before batteries (or smackin it on the edge of the desk  )

It's working well, just like a normal mouse, but it's obvious I did something to change the way it worked, and I'd like to know so I don't get caught unaware a second time.
Downloaded the user manual and read it quicklly, but it doesn't give any detail about how to use the hardware. :(

Perhaps they think it's obvious?

The wireless feature is pretty impressive.
I expected it might be temperamental, but no such thing.
There's a little circular pod that they both communicate with.
It has a button on top that you press to "synchronise" the keyboard and then mouse with [you must push the pod button, then the keyboard button within 10 seconds (repeat for the mouse)].
When you move the mouse, a light flashes within the pod to indicate signal communication.
The great thing about it is that there is no trackball, so any surface will do.
I used to have problems with mouse mat surfaces. My best mat didn't work well with a temperamental mouse. Now the best mat works just fine.

The batteries only last a couple of weeks! :(

Luckily, I suspected this might happen, so bought 4 rechargeable batteries [cost £8] in advance, charged them up and had them ready.
First the mouse went [because it gets a lot of use?], then because my wife was doing a lot of typing last night, the keyboard went.
I hope all 4 don't go at the same time or I won't have any rechargeables ready [only non-rechargeables].

I notice PC-World were selling what appeared to be identical items [except the colour was metalic blue instead of silver] for £80, when I only paid £20 at "Silicon Group" in Edinburgh.

What size rechargables? If it's AA, the best ones out there are the Energizers at 2500 mAh. I had this go-round with batteries for my digital camera.

As for the scrolling, is it possible you pressed the center scroll wheel button on the mouse so whenever you moved it, the page would scroll in that direction?

That sounds kind of fast. I use a M$ Wireless Optical Mouse and haven't changed the batteries in about four months. Still working fine.

When I first started using it I was using it on a bare oak desktop and was getting odd behaviors. After getting a mouse pad it's been a pretty solid performer.

The batteries supplied were non-rechargeable, and they may have been in the box a long time before being sold, so lets see how long the chargeables last. :)

These are 2000 mAh.

I almost certainly hit the scroll wheel ok. One of these days I may just spend the time to figure out how to use the stuff. There are never enough hours in the day. That's my excuse anyway. :)
