Hi,
I have Epox 8K9A2+ mobo with ATA HDD. I have just tried to add new SATA HDD whilst keeping the original HDD installed. The system doesnt even boot - when I boot up a prolonged beep sounds and nothing happens.

Does that mean I have to flasht the bios ??

Any help is appreciated...

I would check out the BIOS setup to see what has been recognised there and what hasn't. At the same time check the boot order and ensure that your IDE drive is the first boot device in the boot sequence.

Some mobos support SATA directly others need them to be configured into a RAID array first (even into a single drive RAID-0 stripe array - if that doesnt seem like a contradiction). You may need to check your mobo's documentation and also watch out for any RAID configuration prompts as the computer boots up.

One prolonged beep sounds like a hardware problem and a failure to POST. I doubt if flashing the BIOS is the way to go.
