I engage my disk defragmentation process on windows 98, computer says it is active but nothing happens defragged for 12 hours, got 0%

Usually this is due to the defrag process restarting due to items writing to the drive. Try booting to SAFE mode by pressing F8 and running defrag in SAFE mode, this limits what applications can write to the drive and makes the process go much more smoothly.

In my experience with Win9x, safe mode is the only way to defrag the drive! The Win9x kernel simply will not allow defrag to continue normally, like the Win2k/XP kernel. That's one of the reasons I like WinXP - I can defrag while surfing the web! :D
