Recently replaced the motherboard, CPU, and AGP card. Kept the orginial hard drive and power supply. The system will not boot up. When power is applied, the CD ROM spins up and the monitor goes into power save mode and nothing happens. However, I can reset the CMOS and bypass the setup by hitting F1 and I am able to use the computer for normal computing. Any time I reboot, I have to reset the CMOS and bypass setup (F1) to get to Windows. Any attempt to change CMOS settings fails to correct problem.

Any ideas what could be the problem?

Check your jumpers, especially the "Clear CMOS" jumper, make sure that it is in the "run/normal" position and not "clear".

When you exit the BIOS do you exit saving the changes?

The jumper is in the correct position. When I exit BIOS I save before exiting. If I make changes to the BIOS and save it, the computer will do nothing. To restore the computer, I have to power down, clear CMOS, and by pass settings.

Contact the manufacturer, it sounds like you might have a corrupt BIOS....

One other thing, do you have a manual for the board?

Yes I have a manual for the board, but it is not very helpful for troubleshooting. I would like to update the BIOS. Do you know where I can download the BIOS for my chipset?

Should have the manufacturer info in the manual, like where to get the BIOS update. That was what I was after, to see if it would be easy or hard to find the BIOS update....
