i start up comp and while installing windows... i press f6 to get to where i can install SATA drive
http://www2.newegg.com/Product/Prod...N82E16822135106
and rest of stuff is in sig
i get this error when i'm loading the floppy. it says:
File \WinXP\fasttx2k.sys caused an unexpected error (18) at line 2113 in d:\xpspritm\base\boot\setup\oemdisk.c.

is there a file on the floppy i should change and can someone give me a link or tell me the right files to have in there or if that's not the problem please tell me what i can do to fix it

someone also said that i could put my IDE hard drive on there but the sata will be faster
and he said if i put on the ide one it'll delete all the information on it and install windows? will that work cuz if it will cant i just add the other hard drive later when i figure it out?

Its strange and not clear why you are getting a reference to a D: partition - viz: d:\xpspritm\base\boot\setup\oemdisk.c.

That looks as if it is looking for a file on the motherboard drivers CDROM - just a guess on my part.

Is the SATA attached to the first SATA-0 connector?

Your problem has been reported by quite a few others:
Google Search Results (http://www.google.com/search?q=WinXP+fasttx2k.sys+caused+an+unexpected+e rror+(18))
I haven't read through all 40 results though.

fasttx2k.sys

Sounds like you've got your sata drive attached to a promise sata/raid add-in card, is that correct? Or perhaps a promise sata/raid controller on your mobo. In any case, I wondering if windows simply cannot find the file it needs. You may have to play around with how you copy your sata files to your floppy. While I've never installed raid, I have installed windows onto a few sata drives using the F6 step, and in at least one instance I had a similar experience to yours and simply had to redo how I copied those sata/raid drivers so that windows could locate them.

Finally, I typed "WinXP\fasttx2k.sys" into google and got a ton of hits, such as that listed below. You might find some guidance from those who have had the same problem. Good luck.
