I start my computer and it starts to boot up like usual, but when it get's to what I guess is the BIOS page which says what kind of motherboard I have and such, it stops. I can't even hit delete to get into the BIOS settings. I have checked my ram by plugging the chip sets into different slots and one at a time and, either way, nothing changes. I tried my video cards in different slots and nothing changes. No matter what I can think to do it still stalls at the same place.

I know I screwed it up somehow because it didn't do this until the night before, when I accidently told it to restart when I just wanted it to shut down. So I waited for it to shut down and then turned it off at the power before it could boot up again. I know it was stupied of me to do and I won't be doing that ever again. If that is not the cause, then the only other thing I can think of is that I installed an upgrade to my NVidia drivers the night before. But my computer had rebooted twice since then. So I am at a total loss as to what to do now. Can someone please help me?

I think it's something to do with, those drivers and the card. If you have another card, try it. After a couple of reboots, the drivers start to settle in, and this is when you will see some of these problems.

Then "post" is when the pc starts up and checks low level hardware, and if each device passes the test it moves on to the next piece, then loads the "bootstrap loader" , which starts the operating system.

the fact it's freezing before the operating system, it must be hardware.

You can try booting after, re-inserting the ram, video card etc.

If this still doesn't work you may have to "clear CMOS", which is the bios settings. This will set the defualt settings for the bios.

You can do this by removing the battery for a couple of hours, or clearing a jumper, which will be instructed in the motherboard manual.

Good luck

Yeah, I think you are probabaly right about the drivers. I posted an up date and detail in the other thread. Please go there and read it. And tell me what you think. What it comes down to is that now I can't even turn on my computer.

To the Admins, I accidently double posted this topic. Could you please delete this one. Thank you.
