Hello panther base. Can you try another monitor on this system? Or this monitor on another system? It sounds like the monitor is going south :(

unfortunately this is the only monitor for this system that I have so looks like I better start shopping the bad thing is it's only a year old

Also try moving the video cable to the monitor itself (bend it a little) at the back of the PC, sometimes if these cables get intermittent, a yellow/green tint can occur. If it clears up, there is your problem. It still means a monitor replacement but you may be able to use it while shopping.

I had a Philips monitor which had the same issue. Moving/bending the video cable may help. But in my case, this solution worked initially, but not for long. I decided to change my monitor ultimately.

Before buying a new monitor I would suggest replacing the video card. I've seen similar symptoms many times and it's not always the monitor. Depending on the age of your machine, you can replace it with a used card. I have a scrap pile of old computer parts and often I'll pull the video card from a carcass and put it in a different machine. They seem to be universal, but then I work only on old, obsolete clunkers that don't need high-end graphic capability.
Perhaps a computer repair shop has a used card that you could buy cheaply just to test and if that's not the problem, return it. It would be a shame (and expense) to replace a year-old monitor if a new card is the solution.
