Do the SATA drivers need to be loaded when loading Windows if the SATA drive is the boot drive, but not going to be used in a raid configuration?
I'm a bit confused on this.

With Win2K and WinXP this is usually the case. With either OS you would soon know whether they are needed during setup. If not needed, the installation would be able to see the SATA drive and find a partition on which to install the OS onto. If needed the drive would be invisible unless the drivers were installed using F6 at the start of setup.
