Dear all
On a Windows XP home SP2 system the DVD burner died and I bought a new one. There was/is no other optical drive in this machine.
I connected the newand only drive (Samsung) with the IDE cable using the last connector at the and of cable for the drive and the other side to the dedicated mobo connector. System has also an (one and only) ATA HDD separately connected to its own mobo port.
Then BIOS refused to boot untill I removed the driver and placed the jumper to the "wrong" position (slave) insted that in the factory preset master position.
Now everythings works fine and CD/DVD are read and burned regularly with Nero 6.
How (just for my culture) was it possible?
Mario
(NB I'm sure it on slave position now)
