Im doing a new build and would like input on the best way to setup the IDE configuration.

I will be using a Raptor SATA HDD for my XP PRO OS.

That leaves IDE #1 and #2 to be used with 1 Plextor DVD/ CD-RW Burner---1 Lite-On CR=RW / DVD Rom combination drive and

1 200 gig HDD [ used to store videos, prior to burning to the Plextor] 1 80 gig that will store music and photos.

Just looking for the best approach for this install.

Thanks Grumper

Really the only thing I can think of is, dont put the disk burners on the same channel as the HDDs. You get better through-put performance when the information is not moving backand forth on the same cable.

Hope this helps ;)

I don't know that, with using the SATA drive as your primary (c: with OS) using IDE1 or IDE2 for additional HDD's makes any difference. It is a typical to set up your HDD's on IDE1 and additional drives (CD, DVD, zip,... ) on IDE 2. But again, with using the SATA, I do not know it matters ;) Best to wait for a few more replies.

I agree. Put the hard drives on Ide 1 and the CD/DVD burners on Ide 2. That's what my motherboard manual said I should do and it's certainly quick :).
