I have two computers that I wish to use with the same monitor, keyboard and mouse.

Is there a cable or some kind of switch that I can get to make this possible?

And would this allow me to change between which computer I see on the monitor without
rebooting?

And what is the best website for buying stuff like this? Or indeed any computer equipment?

What you want is called a KVM switch.

Look at these choices (http://www2.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.asp?Submit=Go&DEPA=0&type=&description=KVM&Category=0&minPrice=&maxPrice=&Go.x=20&Go.y=32)

kvm = keyboard, video, and mouse. The newer ones also let you connect speakers and a microphone to use with two (or more) systems.

I have such a two-system setup in our home office, using a single monitor, keyboard, speakers, and mouse with my wife's Dell and my home-built system. We use a belkin kvm, BELKIN F1DL102P KVM (bought it from newegg.com), and it uses the ps/2-type plugs for your keyboard and mouse (vs. USB), which is what I wanted. You can get a USB version as well. You can have both systems running and switch between them by simply clicking scroll lack and then either the up key or down key for each system, respectively. It's very easy. It has worked extremely well. Some people have problems with these gadgets, but so far we have been lucky.

If you go to belkin's website, you can download pdf files of their merchandise, including the above kvm that we use.
