I think you have to install your CD record program. I thought all I had to do was just pop in a music or data cd and copy something, but soon learned that I had to install the program first...mine was Adaptec EAsy CD Creator4.

i have windows millenium edition, on a dell dimension 2100 desktop , unsure of motherboard and cpu.
