Hello Poohbear09,

Welcome to http://www.pcguide.com/ubb/pcgubb.gif Forums!

Would you provide a bit more system information? What Motherboard, one which IDE channel did you install your new Harddrive? Did you jumper it as Master or Slave? Is there another device on the same IDE channel?

Additional Specs would be fine... http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif

Are you plugged into IDE 1 or 2? Do you have a CD-ROM? Which Operating System, are you, will you, be using? Do you have a floppy drive? Is this a fresh build, or are you upgrading an existing system?

I am really new to this......Sorry

I believe it is on IDE 1
Operating System: Win 98 version6

I have a floppy and a CD Rom on this computer. It will eventually be networked via 8 port hub.

Here''s the whole situation:

The original system was continually locking up ( when we would use the Microsoft office and IE at the same time we would get the blue screen and no matter what we did to warm boot the system it wouldn't work.so we hired a professional-the "professional" that "fixed" it made the problem worse. it eventually got to where it wouldn't load win98. So, I puchased a new hard drive at the suggestion of the computer guy, he never came back and wouldn't return calls...I was stuck and talked to some people I know they said that it would be easy if I followed the directions exactly. I put the new one where the old one was..and went through the software installation process using the "suggested" partitions and etc that the software said. However, I am not too sure that it was right. Do you think that I should clear the hard drive and start over?
