i am working on a gateway pentium 4 2.1 ghz, 512 mb memory, creative sound blaster creative audigy sb 1394 sound card, i have reinstalled drivers, not sure if i am having problem with ghost drivers, i turned off computer last night jumped on today volume icon is gone at bottom of screen, no indicators on device manager screen (oh yeah xp service pack 2), here are the items listed under sound: audio codecs, creative audigy audio processor, legacy audio drive, legacy video capture device, media control devices, soundmax intergrated digital audio, unimodem half duplex audio drive , video codecs, can someone give me an idea what to look for, during my sound problem also was doing virus and spyware checks, adaware, search and destroy and kap.. antivirus, could any viruses taken out my sound, thanks for any suggestions

there was no sound, i had sound on 3 accounts for windowsxp but not 1, so i reistalled drivers and it worked so thanks anyway
