Hi,
I cannot get the Vocal POST reporter to work on my brand new ASUS A7V333 mobo. The jumpers on the mobo are enabled and the Bios setting is enabled. The problem is that due to having other problems installing my operating system ( see other question asked by me below) . I do not know whether this function works once that has been done or whether it should work purely from the mobo. I've tried removing the keyboard, floppy and graphics card and booting but I hear nothing . However , I can still hear the bios 1 short beep when the logo is displayed.
Am I doing something wrong or does it sound like a faulty mobo? (Are faulty new mobo's a common occurence or rare )

I'm having MAJOR problems. I have just installed my new mobo and set it up for RAID O config. The MB Fasttrack check utility reveals that it has been set up correctlly i.e. "functonal" is stated. The 2 HDD have been formatted but when it comes to installing Win 98 I can get a little way into loading it up , to the the Win 98 setup stage of choosing setup type i.e. typical, custom etc and when I click enter the following shortly appears:
SUWIN caused an illegal instruction in module NETDI.DLL at 002D:ICBI
or
APPLICATION ERROR : SUWIN caused a general protection fault in module RNASETUP.DLL at 0001:03B7
When I reboot Scandisk cuts in showing problems found with FAT's not matching. If I allow it to fix these it then says 'X bytes of data might be lost files or directories etc'. If these are fixed the Win 98 setup wizard starts and then I am told to remove any floppy disks from floppy drive and restart (There are NO disks in the floppy !!!).
Could someone give any indication of any possible
things I should have set up in the BIOS that could cause this problem.
I have checked both HDD which are both set to Master and are connected to the black connector of 80 wire IDE cables.These are correctly connected up to their RAID slots on MOBO. I currently only have only a floppy and a DVD-ROM drive hooked up . It would appear from the instructions for my new Liteon 16X DVD- ROM that it recommends the unit to be set on Secondary Master should no other devices be present on the IDE cables (I take it that in my setup no other devices are connected for both HDD are on the RAID ports ). However, from ALL it's images on the packaging ,installation guide and web site manual it shows the secondary master connector to be the middle one and the slave to be the end connector of the IDE cable !!!!
Are there any obvious things that I might have overlooked?
I must admit that this is my first try at RAID ( as you can probably tell..lol) and I seem to be going around in circles.
Any help would be REALLY appreciated
