View Full Version : Power on failure
I have a system that has been running for a year or so, which suddenly will not power up. The LED on the front works and the fan on the mobo runs, lights on the network card shows, so the power supply is obviously working but nothing else does.
Any ideas?

It could still be the power supply. Please answer the following:
1) Does The floppy light up
2) Does the CD-ROM light up. Can you open the CD ROM drawer?
3) Does the HDD spin up. Put your hands on it and you will feel the drive spin up.
4) Can you get into the bios?

I would also visually inspect the motherboard for bulging or leaking capacitors.

I would try a new power supply. You get power to the motherboard, but there is nothing coming trough to the peripheral devices.
