For the last couple of days I've been having strange occurences with my computer. I turn on the computer and It tries to bootup. Eventually it freezes and sometimes restarts itself. I've done virus scans and even re-installed Windows98SE, didn't help at all. 1/50 boots I will actually get to the screen that asks me if I want to go in Safe Mode and sometimes I even get into Normal Mode, but most of the time i don't.

Sorry about the generality of this question, I wish I could provide more info but for now I'm befuddled.

Hello Brent, during the boot try to go to the boot menu [blip f8 repeatedly?]and select "step-by-step confirmation". Press enter to accept each step of the boot process and study the process and watch for any error reported after each step.
Take note [if possible] of the point at which the boot process fails.
Use someone else's PC go to the detailed explanation on this site of the steps in the process.
You will then have a better idea where things are going wrong.
