I'm building a new system and having an heating issues with the CPU:

Intel 640 with oem fan (3.2 with 2Meg cache)
Coolermaster Case TAC-T01-E1C
Neopower 480 power supply
ASUS P5AD2 Deluxe

My problem is that when I close the computer case, within few minutes the cpu fan speeds up from the normal 2700-2900 rpm speeds to 4500 and it sounds extremely loud. Its to a point where I have to leave the case open because the it also makes the case vibrate almost.

Is this an issue to related to a bad power supply or the cpu fan needs to be replaced?

I'm not overclocking or anything like that.

thanks

I just built a system with the 640 based on an Asus P5AD2E. I did not use the stock HSF, though. I went with a Zalman 7700Cu. Intel stock HSFs are typically loud-ish, though they are effective. They definitely should not sound like a jet taking off and shake the case. Are you sure it's mounted correctly and solidy? What about temps? CPU and case? If your BIOS has it (mine does), is FANQ set to ON/AUTO in the BIOS? If it is mounted correctly, ease your mind and spend the $47 on one of these. Are you using a thermal paste? Or if you are using the thermal pad, did you remove the protective plastic cover?
