I hope someone can help me.
I am running Windows 98 and can only log onto the internet/e-mail once in any one session. If I try a second time during the same session the whole system crashes and I need to re-boot to start up. needless to say this is extreamly frustrating
Any help out there much appreciated
James

Welcome to the PCGUide. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif
How much memory do you have?
Is this a re-accuring problem, or have you installed any software and it just started happening?
Do you have (and use ) any anti-virus software?
If you can post back with a little more detail on your system ( and what you may have done lately ) someone here may be able to help you better.

Thanks for your prompt reply.
The system is the second computor that I have built and comprises
AMD XP1900+
256 MB PC2100 SDRAM
Modem Blaster V92 modem
Ironically I had the same problem with the earlier machine running Win 95 where the computor hung in going from Explorer to outlook
Foe the new machine I used an OEM version of Win 95 and then ran the Win 98 Upgrade. This problem has been present from the very start as soon as the system booted.
I have Norton antivirus but the problem was there before I installed it.
I now have access to a full version of Win 98 SE but I'm afraid that if I reinstall Windows I'll loose the user settings as more than one person uses the PC.

James, ur pc is new and so i think either ur modem is defected or something wrong with the driver...remove it from ur system and re-install it or just download it from cybercafe and save it in a diskette and run it..or u can try move ur modem to another pci( if ur modem is internal).
Good luck http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
