I just bought a new mobo and a new cpu. (abit KR7A and amd XP 2000+)
So I installed the whole thing. The fans work, the mobo leds (to check if things work) are lit. The only problem is that the computer won't start up. I tried removing all hardware that wasn't necessary, but that didn't help.
Now I must say that I swithed the CMOS jumper around (so I think I cleared the cmos.)

I use a 350W p/s and the HD worked in my previous configuration. (old comp.)
I tried 3 different video cards (voodoo 2, voodoo banchee and GF2 mx) none work.

So I get a blanks sreen and a repetitive beep (like once every 2 secs or whatever.

The RAM works, cuz I used it before.

Any idea anyone?

Thanks a lot

What BIOS is it?

If it's AMI or Award, go to their sites to check out their generic beep codes.

You can also try here, beep codes (http://www.pcguide.com/ts/x/sys/beep/index-i.htm).

Depending on the BIOS version it could be memory or video.

I recently upgraded to an Abit KR7A-133 and had the same problem.
Cleared CMOS(Abit recommends doing this before installing the MB), tried different memory(the KR7A uses only PC1600 or PC2100 DDR unbuffered), video cards(must use AGP 2X and 4X only), CPU's, power supplies, placed the motherboard on cardboard, etc., etc., and still no display.
Inserted the memory module in slot 4 and presto, it worked!
Contacted the supplier about this, and they said that the memory slots must be populated from DIMM 4 to DIMM 1 on this MB, even though the manual states the reverse. Go figure.
Also, do not select User Define or any CPU other than your installed one(XP 2000+) for the CPU Operating Speed item in the CPU Softmenu III Setup. Otherwise, you will get no display. This is because the XP CPU is designed not to be under/overclocked. However, you supposedly can get around this by making physical modifications to the CPU chip.
And make sure the case is well ventilated, especially if the ambient air temperature gets up in the 80's. That puppy will get warm.
