I have a Netgear DSL/Cable router/switch connected to AT&T Cable and two computers connected to the Netgear router getting IP addresses from the router which is acting as a DHCP server.

Anyway that's not the problem. The problem is this. I have a game called Global Operations installed on both machines in my house and I would like to put the game cd in the computers cd-rom drive that is located up stairs and be able to access it from the computer located downstairs. My network is setup correctly and i'm sharing the cd-rom drive that has the game cd in it. But when I go to play the game over the computer down stairs it says no cd in the drive. Is it possible for me to share one cd for both machines as long as one machine is only accessing it at a time? I know this is possible but it's not working.

Depending on the program
Many will write the cd-rom path in the programs ini file during the install .
You may be able to change that to the network path to the shared cd-rom

Others simple use the variable “CDROM” in the ini.
These will only work in the local cdrom.

It may also be possible IF the program supports network install
To remove the program and install it across the network.
This would force it to look at the shared / networked cdrom drive

Rick thank you I will try that and get back to you on it. Shouldnt the prgrams INI file be stored in C:\Windows\INF folder? or is it in the C:\Program Files\Global Operations folder?

I will take a look in both.

No luck. It is a PC game produced by crave entertainment and EA entertainment so it is a very popular game. It's meant for use on computer at a time. I don't want to copy the game or crack it I just want to be able to access it from a differn't computer without having to physically go upstairs ,grab the cd-rom and walk back downstairs to play it and then I'll have to walk back up stairs to put it back so it's a pain. It would be nice If i could access it from either computer becuase the game is installed on both computers , you're just not allowed to use the game at the same time on both machines which i'm not.

Thanks for info.
