My teacher friend's HP computer CD Rom won't eject. There is no CD in the drive and he can't get the CD Rom to open. By the way, you guys have solved several problems for me and I think that you're awesome. Any ideas how to help my friend?

First off, make sure there is power to the drive. Once you find out there is power to it and it still won't open, it may be time to get a new CD ROM drive. Most likely in this case the drawer mechanism is broken. CD ROM drive are fairly cheap to replace. You can probably get a suitable replacement for well under $20. You might also try to stick the end of a paper clip in the little tiny hole in the front of the drive to see if it will open that way. That may or may not work and even if it does, it doesn't mean it will start working properly.
