Here is the processor and mobo I plan on getting for my new build:
intel Pentium 4 630 Prescott 800MHz FSB 2MB L2 Cache LGA 775 Processor

ASUS P5P800 Socket T (LGA 775) Intel 865PE ATX Intel Motherboard
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813131511

What HSF would ya'll reccommend? I am looking for something that will do the job, but will also be relatively quiet. I am looking at HSFs priced around $50 although cheaper would be better. If you can give me an idea of something good around my price range, and if there is anything that is highly reccommended that is more pricey, include that too so I can take a look at it. Thanks for the help!

I have an Asus mobo and a P5 640. I chose this Zalman (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16835118115) HSF. Here's a review from TomsHardware. (http://www.tomshardware.com/cpu/20041213/index.html)

It's big...huge, in fact. It heavy. It's efficient. It's quiet-- Way more efficient and quite than stock Intel HSF. It's all copper and it's cool looking.

It's also right at your budget. Zalman makes another that's cheaper but it's a copper and aluminum blend that's not as efficient. This one is awsome but make sure your mobo is on the the compatible list (check the Zalman site via the link on Newegg) and since you have your case, check the required clearance between the mobo and PSU (Zalman site shows specs).

I highly reccomend this one.

I checked it out and it looks good. My only concern is the weight being that it is more than double the ATX standard. Are there any extra precautions I should take due the extra weight when I install? Thanks for the input.

Weight concerned me too. The mounting bracket is actually very good. It clamps/bolts from the underside of the mobo. Zalman is not in the business of destoying mobos. I haven't seen any issues yet but my box stays in one place. I might be more concerned if the box was a LAN party type design that moved around allot.

I also haven't heard/read anything online about anyone having any issues with it.

As far as the install, just put the CPU in then follow the instructions Zalman includes with the unit. They also have a flash movie on their site. The only quirk I experienced was tightening down the clamps takses a bit more force than I expected. Just be sure to do it as instructed, meaning follow the torque sequence--a little on one, then a little on another, and so on. Really not very difficult at all.
