Welcome aboard http://www.pcguide.com/ubb/pcgubb.gif forums!
This is not one of the help forums but a mod will move this thread to one shortly.
Could you tell us more about the system (your os etc) and if this just happened out of the blue?
If you have Windows 98, look in C: and is there a file labeled Win98? And if you open it, are there a lot of .cab files? If so, you have enough to recover from quite alot, if not even be able to build a cd to use for reinstallations.
But chances are the floppy is worn out though we can try a few things first.
Power down.
1st.Open the case and check cable connections at the floppy and motherboard. Reboot and try it again if you find anything loose.
2nd.
Go to Device Manager in Safe Mode, right click and remove all instances of your floppy drive. Reboot. Windows will find the floppy on reboot and install the drivers for it, that is, if the floppy is ok. Floppies are cheap as dirt so you won't be out much if it is defective, I've had to replace a slew of them already.
