I have a technical problem that may or may not relate to the Elitegroup
K7S6A motherboard. his is a brand new setup with all new parts. I have the Antec SX635 case with an Elitegroup K7S6A motherboard. I have connected the power supply and the Reset, Power Switch, Power LED, case Speaker, and HD LED the way the motherboard manual specifies. All other motherboard connections are completed according to the motherboard manual, double checked half a dozen times. When I hit the power switch on the case, the machine powers up, the fans come on, the hard drives spin up, the CD light blinks (like it is trying to boot off of it). But I get nothing on the monitor. (It is a proven good monitor with a brand new
graphics board). What's more, the reset switch on the front of the case
does nothing, and the power switch has no effect. In order to turn the
thing off, I have to unplug the cord from the rear of the case. Is there
any light you can shed on this? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Power Switch: Hold down for about 5 seconds, it should shut down.
Pull everything but motherboard, CPU, RAM, video card, and keyboard. Try it with only those components connected and see if you get video. If yes, add ONE component at a time starting with floppy drive, make sure each works properly before connecting another. (Be sure the CPU fan is ALWAYS attached and working.)
If no video with bare bones system, remove it from the case and try the bare bones setup on a tabletop or piece of cardboard, just so it's not touching the case at all. If you get video then, you have a ground problem. Get some cardboard washers from a computer shop and install them under the screws holding the motherboard to the chassis.
Let us know what happens...
Also, be SURE you unplug the machine or turn off the main power switch before pulling any cards, the motherboard still has power when plugged in. Pulling cards can fry them.

Thanks for your reply. I have done these things. I have cardboard washers on both sides of each mounting screw. Going to bare bones makes no difference. One of the things I neglected to mention was that with power connected but the case switch off, the power LED is on. Electronics experts have told me that this should not happen, and that the power supply is faulty. I was also informed that this could cause any number of unpredictable events such as the video. The case switch does not cut the power because the power was flowing before the switch was turned on. Regardless of the peripheral behavior, you have to admit that no power should be allowed to the motherboard if the case switch is off. My dad (retired electronics expert) tells me the common ground is 'floating' and letting some power in. I will contact Antec and get a replacement PS.
With an ATX power supply power is always going to the board (not full power but a stand-by voltage), so which power LED is lit, one on the motherbard or the one on the outside of the case?

The one outside the case
