A friend of mine bought a PC at auction. There is a password assigned to the enter the Bios. Is there a way to clear that password? The PC needs formated and some hardware changes, he'll need into the bios I'm sure.

At this point, I don't know the make of the main board or any other particulars. I thought I had heard that the bios can be reset/cleared by removing the 3v battery on the main PCB for a spell, but wanted to check first.

Yes, just remove the battery, and leave it for about 30 minutes.
