I've got an ASUS P2B motherboard and was wondering what the small battery located on the board is for. I know it has not been replaced in several years. Should I be concerned about this? Thanks for any input.

It poweres the CMOS memory chip to hold the date, time, and system setup parameters. Without it you would have to reset the clock, date, and any settings that are not your motherboards' default CMOS settings.

Hello candrews,
I'm assuming you are talking about a battery that resembles a nickle or quarter. This battery supplies power to the CMOS chip when your machine is off. The CMOS stores your BIOS information which would revert to a hard encoded setting if power were lost.
If you are not experiencing any abnormalities with your settings or startup, I would recommend leaving the battery alone but be aware of the fact that it may need to be changed soon.

Good luck http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/cool.gif
